STEPHANIE (SAVALA) AKERS: I was born & raised in the Q.C. & this is where I will die! There's no place like home! I got married and was a stay-at-home mom right after high school & raised 2 beautiful daughters with my husband of 14 years. I am now happily divorced & been living, dancing, and traveling the single life away since I cut my ball & chain in 1997. I even went back to college for my AAS. (if you can believe that one). My oldest daughter, Tonisha will be 23 in May & is in the United States Air Force. She is in New Jersey training to be a S.W.A.T Sniper and loving every minute of it. My youngest daughter, Ashley will be 21 in August and travels the U.S. as a nanny. She is currently in NYC, (Long Island) living with a family she simply adores! I am VERY proud of both my girls! I anticipate a trip out East this summer to spend time with both, since they are only an hour apart. As for me, I worked for Black Hawk College for 10 yrs & and then went to work for the Rock Island School District in 2002. I'm an Administrative Assistant for the Dean's at Rocky and been on Cloud 9 ever since! I think I have only missed one reunion and can't wait to see everyone! Can u believe it's been 25 years already! That just blows me away!! See everyone soon & stay blessed.
ANNE (SANTRY) BOULTINGHOUSE: WOW! Twenty-five years, it's hard to believe. I can't wait to see all of you. I have been busy doing hair for the last 24 years, and loving every minute of it! I have been married to Ed for 13 years and together we have rasied my son Nick(25), Alex(20), and Travis(18). My biggest baby of all is Lily (our yellow lab). Now that the kids are older I have found all of this extra time on my hands hence the reunion. I have also gotten involved in a womens investment club which has been a real learning experience for me. I think we should all do a hats off to Jim for ceating such an awsome web site for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
MARK CAMPOS: Hi class of 81’ this is what Mark Campos has been up to over the last 25 years: I moved to Lafayette, La in 1982 and fell in love with the area. It was especially fun with Mardi gras. I went to New Orleans several times and just enjoyed the south Louisiana. I lived there until August of 1986 when I was laid off work. I decided to move to Austin, Texas where my brother David is living. I think everybody should visit there so they can enjoy the hill country and all of the wonderful things that Austin has to offer. I was in school and working as a purchasing manager when I met my wife Carolyn Leger Campos. She was finishing her masters program at Texas University and working her internship were I was working. I noticed her last name was a Cajun name, so I asked her where she was from. She was from Lafayette, La. Well one thing led to another and we were married in Lafayette, La in 1989. Jerry Patrick was my best man and it was a beautiful wedding. 64 family members attended from the Quad cities. After we were married we went to Hawaii for 17 days and spent time on every island. We liked it so much that we went back the next year for 9 more days. We also traveled to San Diego and Chicago. The vacations ended when we were expecting our first baby. My wife Carolyn was an only child and did not want to have just one, so we had four children. Macy Elizabeth Campos (09/02/1994), Amanda Rae Campos (04/06/1996), Mark Andrew Campos (05/03/01), Kaitlyn Nicole Campos (05/19/02). My wife wanted to move back to Lafayette, La. and I always liked it there so we decided to in 1998, My two oldest were born in Austin, Texas and my other two were born in Lafayette, La. We have a very nice four bedroom house and I currently have been with Lafayette Motors in car sales for the last 7 years. My wife is a special education teacher which is a blessing because my son Mark has Down syndrome. He is a wonderful boy that will make you smile all the time. We have been very lucky because he has not had any complications and he has been very healthy for his condition. My kids enjoy the 40 acres farm my mother in law has. It is fun spending the weekend out there where it is very peaceful. Well with four children our house is never a dull moment. They are now 12, 10, 4, and 3. My wife and I have always attended church and take our children to St. Basil. I am looking forward to seeing everybody and showing you pictures of my family. My e-mail address is mcampos@lafayettemazda.com. please feel free to drop me a message of how you are doing. I will see you at the reunion. I will be going by myself because my kids are in to many things over the summer. See you soon, Mark Campos
JOSEPH CAVINS: I bought the house I grow up in. I have two Boys ages 15 and 11. I work at Trinity Medical Center for the last 13 years. Walk to Alleman football games since there played at Augie. LOVE TO GOLF 100 times a year or more.
CLAIRE (HOURIGAN) CHOUINARD: Hello to all in the class of 1981. I can't believe it's 2006. When we were in high school I thought that anyone in their forties was old. Sure glad I was wrong. My husband Scott and I having been living in Boston Massachusetts area for eight years now. We have two sons, Charlie is ten and Will is six. I am an executive medical device surgical specialist for US Surgical. I have been training surgeons in the operating room for fourteen years now. We moved to Boston eight years ago when my husband completed his post doc fellowship from the University of Wisconsin. I thought that at 35 years of age it was time for him to have a good paying job. All has worked out and he is the Director of a Bio-Tech company in the Boston area. When we are not working we hang out in cold hockey arenas. Both of our boys play hockey in a town that has produced many professional players. It is a very exciting sport! We also hang out in Vermont about five months out of the year hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, drinking beer, and golfing. It is our little piece of heaven. You would think that the best part about living in the Boston area would be the culture, the Kennedy’s, and the fact that Boston is the number one sports town in America, but that's all nothing compared to knowing that my excellent friend Jim McBride lives here. And recently our good friend David Fields has moved close by....he still has long hair by the way. See you this summer!!
PATRICK COCQUYT I am currently living in Fort Collins Colorado, I've been out here since 1990, except for one year back in COLD Wisconsin. Unfortunately I will not be able to come to the reunion and will miss seeing you all. I am Married to Karen Kniep for the past 12 years we met in Rockford Illinois in 1986 and have a son Ben (21) living in Fort Collins attending CSU (go RAMS), and a son Chad (12), who's at my moms in East Moline for the summer. I see Bill McGuinty Mike Jorgensen, Ed Guhman once in while. Sam Dobbins never heads north anymore! I do head down near Sam every day to my job at SUN Microsystems so perhaps its my fault too. In my spare time I work and then work some more. Every once in a while I'll go up to the mountains and fish or relax by the fire. Unless Bill McGuinty asks me up to his cabin and then I work some more. (just kidding Bill) If anyone is ever out this way and would like to pull me away from working, please let me know! I really could use a break. patrick.cocquyt@sun.com
MICHAEL & CAROL (TANGHE) CUTKOMP: Mike and Carol are living happily in RI, IL raising kids and breathing fresh air. Carol is still sane after putting up with Mike for 26 years. We have two sons; Jeffrey is 22 and a senior at IL State and Daniel is 11 and a 5th grader at Jordan. Outside of work we spend a lot of time coaching kids sporting events, gardening, and we are building a house. Send us an email at mkcutkomp@aol.com and let us know how you are doing.

PAM (OCHS) DOUGLASS: 25 years?! That is so hard to believe! Larry and I enjoyed our last reunion and are looking forward to this year's! I have been married to Larry for eight ~blissful~(?!)years. I have two boys - Jason (22) and Justin (17). Jason is in the Army and has just returned from a one-year tour in Iraq. We're so proud of him and thankful he's home safe! We're now ready for him to ~move on~ to his new active duty station. There's just something about an 'adult child' living in your home...haha! Justin is currently a Junior at Moline High School. He's a good student and has plans to go on to a recording college after next year. We are also the proud new Foster Parents to a 12-yr old girl. She's a true joy to have around and we are excited and blessed to have the opportunity to be part of her life! Last, but not least, we have our two 'babies' - Gretta, our 7-yr old Rott/Shepherd Mix and Maggie, our 5-yr old Lab/Shepherd Mix. We love spending time with our family and working around our home. Larry lives to golf and while he's gone, I enjoy working in our garden or quilting. Can't wait to see everyone this summer!
MARILYN (PERKINS) FISHER: Well, I'll start with my move from the Quad Cities to Texas in 1983. I've been here for 23 years now, but still call Moline home when I talk to my kids. Oh yeh, I have 3. Jake 16, Grant 14 and Miss Princess Erin who is 7. Life is good. I am currently working for the company that moved me here in 1983. Went back to work for them after selling my Coffee Shop I opened in 1996. It was the funnest 8 years ever! My husband of 20 years is a Moliner. (Doug Fisher 1980 graduate) He's my best friend. Doug works at IBM here in Austin, Texas. I work to support my athletic habits. I run lots of races locally and have done about 7 marathons and right now is triathlon season. So, I'm in training. Luckily my sons are runners too. Jake is on the Cross Country Team at his high school so now he and I race together. He beats me. I get back to the Quad Cities a couple times a year to visit. Wish I could go monthly. Y'all come visit!!
BRIAN FLAHERTY: In October of '82 I enlisted in the Army Reserves and spent 2 years there. In January of '85 I shipped off to Ft. Rucker, ALA to be full time GI and spent the next 5 years in various locations. Germany, Kentucky, Arkansas, New york and California. In 1989 the Army and I parted ways and a civilian career was under way. I spent 7 years with Hy-Vee Food Stores Inc. in various departments and decided after my oldest was born to work less weekends and spend more time with him. BI-State Packaging was my home for 3 years and 3 months. In 2001 I started a lawn mowing company with 8 accounts. In 2002 I went out on my own and now have 4 employees with about 70 accounts both commercial and residential. We are now known as Flaherty's lawn and Landscape. In 1993 I was married and now have 2 children ages 8 and 5. They attend Jordan School in Rock Island. I currently and serving on 3 commitees within the school and 2 within St. Pius church. Looking forward to seeing many folks that I haven't seen in years.
WENDI FOWLER-VOTH: Hi! Wish I could be there for the reunion this year, but family activities are preventing it!! Ok, so actually it's a trip to the Mediterranean with family that is preventing it! I will truly miss seeing everyone and the events planned. Here is a little on me since the last reunion.... Wendi Fowler - Voth, Husband - Jack, Daughter - Annie (age 8), 2 Stepchildren - Jake (25) & Danielle (23), & 4 Grandchildren (Yikes!!!) We still live in Naples, FL and love to escape to the mountains of NC to hike when we get the chance! My husband and I own, The Client Server, Inc., a national IT Solution providing corporation. I am active in all the usual school mom committees, as well as running our business. Would love to see and hear from other classmates!!
SUSAN (RECKARD) HOFSTAD:
What fun to get to be in contact with everyone as they look at the reunion information. I would love to receive a booklet if one is produced. Just let me know how much. Here's my update: I am living in Inver Grove Heights, MN with my husband of 21 years, Chris. We are about to become empty-nesters as our youngest son, Erik (18), will be attending Iowa State University in the fall. He is planning to major in Aerospace Engineering. He will join his older brother, Alex (20), who will be a junior at ISU majoring in marketing and management. It will be great to have them both on the same schedule, plus we only need to visit one campus. Since Chris and I are both ISU alumni, we are planning to be football season ticket holders this fall. It will give us a great excuse to see our sons on a regular basis. My oldest son, Joe (25), is getting married the weekend of the reunion in Chicago. He and his wife, Ewa, live in Hanover Park. Joe is working in property management and Ewa is a nurse. Chris is a partner with Faegre & Benson LLP in downtown Minneapolis and I am taking some classes in accounting. I wish I could be with all of you at the reunion, but I look forward to getting the updates.
PATRICK JONES Hey Class of '81, have a great time at the reunion, my schedule won't allow me to come back. I have lived in Colorado since the fall of 81. I attended the Univ of N. Colorado where I met my wife Kay, who is from the Elgin, IL area. We were married in 1988 and other than running into Dan Noe on his, and our honeymoon in Cancun, seeing Alleman alums is a rarity. Kay and I have been married for 18 years and live south of Denver in Castle Rock. We have two boys, Hayden 12, and Colin 7. It's hard to imagine I have lived here for over half my life. I had the family in the QC's for about 5 hours on June 11th, just long enough to drive past Alleman, show my kids the lock and dam, buy an Isabel Bloom and eat a Harris Pizza. We were in Iowa for a family reunion. I'd like to say I discovered some life changing vacine or miracle drug, but the truth is I have been working in the insurance industry for the past 16 years, the last six at Lockton Companies. I help coach football and baseball, the family likes to camp, ski and mountian bike. Kay and I are also famous for our World Beer Party, of which the 17th annual is coming up on August 12th. So if you're in the state, drop on by. (Sam Dobbins won't come down from the Peoples Republic of Boulder for the party, but it's his loss.)
MARGARET KALE After graduating from Alleman, I went to Black Hawk College, and then Illinois State University and got my degree in Theatre. I moved to Chicago and spent 10 years there focusing on theatre. I also worked for The Quaker Oats Company as a Special Events Manager. Quaker promoted me into National Account Sales in 1994 and moved me to New York City. As with many corporations, they went through downsizing, and I was eventually laid off. That gave me the opportunity to focus on theatre in NYC for a few years. Lots of commercials and plays, but little money, motivated me to become employed full-time. I got into advertising, and am now a Vice President, Account Supervisor at CommonHealth, a pharmaceutical advertising agency in New Jersey. I work with oncology products, so it is really rewarding to be involved with promoting cures for cancer. I reside in NYC with my partner, Fred, and two Persian cats, Brutus and BettyAnn. I transferred my acting ability to Brutus, a famous cat model who has appeared in such ads as Neiman Marcus for Vogue magazine, Frontline television commercials, and Woman’s World magazine. I enjoy traveling and have had many wonderful adventures to see the world, including Russia, Lithuania, Ireland, and Portugal, to name a few. Work keeps me busy, but I still find time for theatre, swimming, and 5:00 cocktail hour!
JULIE (LOPEZ) KINNAN: I am still here in the Quad Cities, blessed by a wonderful husband andthree beautiful children. The weekend before our class reunion myfamily will just be returning from Cancun, Mexico after a short two week vacation. I work at KWQC-TV6 as an Advertising Account Executive and have been with the station for over 11 years. Ashley is 13 years old and has been taking piano lessons for nearly five years and won first place in the Clavinova Festival last fall playing the song "Mary Did You Know". She just started taking harp lessons a dream she has had for a long time. She is definitely the pianist of the family! My son, Keith is 11 years old and has been taking piano lessons for five years too, but doesn't share passion of his older sister. He definitely prefers basketball, baseball and anything sports oriented. Beca is the youngest and is 10 years old also taking piano lessons now for 7 years and won second place in the Clavinova Festival in 2002 at the age of 6. She also just started taking harp lessons which she enjoys but her love and gift is definitely art. She recently did an oil painting of our Blessed Virgin Mary but what is even more moving is the picture she is drawing in pencil of Jesus and His sacred heart. The rays are unbelievable. I have been told she is very gifted. Thank you God! My husband is the world's greatest man and I am blessed to have him! I'm looking forward to our time catching up in July.
SUSAN (LOCKE) LAUER Hello to all of you. Here we are a week before the reunion and I am finally spending some browsing this site. I, like all of you, can't believe that it has been 25 years since I walked those Alleman hallways. I have been married to Mitch for 21 years. We have 2 sons: Bradley who just graduated from Oregon High School, and Lucas who will soon enter first grade. I tell everyone that God decided that we needed 12 years between our kids. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa when my husband was teaching high school band in tiny town of Riceville, Iowa. The following year we moved back to Illinois and he began teaching in Oregon Illinois. I got job teaching 7th and 8th graders in Dixon, Illinois. Eleven years later, I am still teaching in Dixon, although now 5th grade. THANK GOD! I finished my masters several years ago, so now I am at least getting paid part of what I am worth. We both sing at mass and my husband often has to play trumpet. We truly enjoy traveling. In fact, July 18th we just returned from a road trip to see Mickey Mouse. It was time for our 6 yr. old to experience Disney. We will never do it again by Minivan. How did our parents do it?
JIM MCBRIDE: I have been living in Boston Massachusetts for the past 18 years with the exception of a stint at UCLA in Los Angeles for 2 years from 2002 2004. I returned to Boston and I am working as the Director or Core Laboratories at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. The focus of my work has evolved from oral cancer research to administering several bone development labs. I have a beautiful 4-year-old son Henry. Some of my best memories of High School revolve around breakfast parties before assemblies as well as Loud Thunder camping excursions. I have been pretty good at keeping some contact with friends from Alleman. I am living near Clair Chouinard and more recently Dave Fields and enjoy getting together with them. I sure miss Harris pizza and BVI. Can you believe Alleman had a smoking area?
GENA (STANDAERT) MCCULLOUGH: I've had many blessings in 25 years from an interesting career, travels to Katmandu and the Taj Mahal, to having a wonder family. I am currently Planning Director for Bi-State Regional Commission, serving a five-county bi-state region in the Quad Cities. I earned degrees in Geology and Geography from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. My family includes my husband of 10 years who teaches 8th grade earth science in Muscatine, plus two lively daughters (6 and 8 years old). Living in Rock Island, Ivolunteer on Rock Island Neighborhood Partners, PTA and am a co-leader for Girl Scouts. Lookingforward to our Class gathering!
PAMELA MCMURRAY: Shortly after high school I enlisted in the Air Force and served 6 1/2 years on active duty; 3 years in Anchorage Alaska, 2 years in England, and several months at Scott AFB. I had the good fortune of being able to continue to play lots of competitive softball while travelling all over the world, meeting lots of great people. After getting back stateside though I was eager to complete my college education so I opted out early of my second enlistment and spent 1 1/2 year in the MO Air Guard while completing my BA at SIU in Edwardsville. I completed my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Washington University in St. Louis, MO (a city of which I have very fond memories) in 2000. After completing a fellowship in Neuropsychology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston I stayed on there for a year before taking a job in the Midwest in order to get off the fast track and move to the single Mommy track. My 4-year old son Henry and I have been living in Waukesha, WI for the past 3 years. It has been wonderful to be in closer touch with family and I really enjoy my work at a small but thriving community based hospital situated in suburban Milwaukee. I really enjoy spending time with friends from high school and am looking forward to the reunion and catching up with those I never or seldom see.
MICHAEL MILLER: Well, after our graduation from Alleman, I did a short stint at BlackHawk College and then I joined the Marine Corp. I was in the Marines for about 16 years and during that time I travelled all over the world and wreaked havoc wherever I went. Those were experiences I wouldn't trade for anything. Around 9 years ago I met my "soulmate" (my wife told me to say that) and I inherited and instant family since she already had 2 kids from a previous relationship. Our kids, Joelle, is 16 yrs old and Nico is 13. We also have 2 other "children", Chelsea (Sharpei/Mastiff mix) and Lola (Shepherd/Sharpei mix). We have a pretty full and busy household. Presently, I am working for the Hilton Hotels in Orange County. I'm looking forward to our class reunion and seeing everyone.
SHARON NEARY: It’s unbelievable to me that 25 years have passed us by. Seems just like yesterday I fell down the school steps in my 3-inch clogs!! What was I thinking? Ah, the memories. I have worked as a medical transcriptionist for the past 20 years, starting out at Moline Public Hospital and then later at Franciscan Medical Center (2 years) working in pathology. I have a fierce interest in forensics (I actually wanted to be the female “Quincy”). I then moved to Zion, IL and got married -- when I came to my senses I got divorced!! I then worked for Genesis/Illini Medical Center for 9 years as Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Medical Records Department where I developed the pay incentive program, dividing my time between the two campuses. I decided I needed some “me” time after being in charge of 35 crazy women, so I went to work for Omnimed Transcription Service based in Madison, Wisconsin where I was able to happily work out of my home doing medical reviews for several hospitals/clinics throughout the Midwest for 2 years. After spending all that time at home with no one to talk to but the dog (no kids, just Zak my 6-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who thinks he is actually a real person), I figured it was time to get some “human” contact again so I went to work at Medical Arts Associates (our office is located in Trinity’s 7th Street Campus) for a phenomenal group of physicians. We are a multi-specialty group comprised of 17 physicians (one of whom includes Alleman grad Karla Bladel Polaschek an OB/GYN). Most of the work I do is for our oncologist, Dr. Michael Porubcin, and pulmonologist, Dr. Edward Ebert. I was unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005 but can proudly say I am doing great and made it through treatment with flying colors! I’m happy to put the “liquid barber” behind me and have hair to work with this summer before I see everyone! Take care everybody and see you in July.
LISA (GEMIGNANI) O'NEILL: I have been married to Curt for 18 years and have 3 wonderful children. Danny is 16 and will be a Junior at Alleman in the fall. Twins Amy and Kevin will be freshman in the fall at Moline High. (The kids got to choose their high school) Currently I work 2 part time jobs. For 7 years I have been at the Regional Office of Education, working in the Truancy division, and for 9 years at the YMCA in Moline. I am a 42 year resident of the Quad Cities and have absolutely no desire to move anywhere else! The best thing to happen to me since high school is having children. I can’t imagine life without them!
KEVIN & COLLEEN (CARLIN) RAFFERTY: Kevin and I have been married for 17 years and live in Moline with our four children -- Patrick (15), Brendan (13), Connor (9) and Annie Grace (3). It doesn't seem possible, but our oldest will be a freshman at Alleman this fall. (It also doesn't seem possible we'll STILL have one at Alleman when we get together for our 40th reunion!) Kevin is a partner at DeRoo Funeral Home, and I do marketing consulting and am Executive Director of The Women's Connection in the Quad Cities. We spend most of our time traveling from one ballgame to the next, but love to golf, garden and visit with family and friends in our spare time, of which there is very little. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!
KAREN (REYNOLDS) SCOTT: Wow... has it been 25 years already?! Time just flies! Let's see... a recap of events since leaving high school. I attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis where I studied psychology and music.. decided it was WAY too cold in Minnesota so I moved to Ft. Myers, Florida where I was a youth and music leader at a huge church. I went to a music seminar in Colorado and auditioned for a touring musical out of Los Angeles and got the part which led to a two year tour of the US and Canada singing... then I settled down (well, I don't know if you'd actually call it "settling down") but I ended up living in Los Angeles where I had the opportunity of being in music videos, tv commercials, movies, and lots and lots of cop shows and game shows. I also auditioned for and got a lead role in a touring contemporary musical with the LA Civic Light Opera and that was a blast. I did a lot of mingling with the rich and famous, dated a few people you'd recognize on tv and had the misfortune of turning down a recurring role on ER when it was still in the casting stages and hadn't been picked up by a network... (who knew??) but by that time I had decided I was sick of muggings, earthquakes, fires, riots, and floods and was headed back to Florida. In hindsight, my life would be very different now had I stayed out there.. but I'm glad I made the choice to actually settle down because I have really enjoyed being a wife and mom! I have a fantastic husband, Bruce, and a 6 year old named Emily who is quite the princess. She is in the 1st grade and she's brilliant. (Reads on a 5th grade level... brag brag brag). We own an auction company and we are both licensed auctioneers. We also have a beautiful foster baby, Giana, who I brought home from the hospital when she was one day old. She is now almost 15 months, walking, trying to talk, and making us laugh. We are trying to help rehabilitate her biological mom who was in jail and now in drug rehab. We don't know what the future holds for Giana but we know we'll always be a part of her life. I am still singing and doing local tv and commercials whenever I can fit it in. I am a songwriter, a worship leader at the church, I sing in a duo and occasionally with my band, and I also have a boutique that specializes in weddings and events so I'm very busy on the weekends! I have been blessed with amazing opportunities and I'm grateful for every one of them. I'm excited about trying new things and probably would be considered a risk taking, unafraid, unconventional woman because I believe in pursuing all your dreams. I can't wait to catch up with you all!!! See you in July
JOSEPH SHOWALTER: Married to wife Kelly. I have been a store manager for Walgreens for 18 years in Burlington Ia. and have been with the company for 22 years, I love to play golf, go boating, and take the Harley for a ride. I Have 2 kids, both blonds, long hair, bark often but not too much, both believed to be current members of al-Qaida or some other know terrorist group!( Actually they are sweathearts) ..other than that, just enjoying life. Can't wait til the week of the re-union...taking most of the week off.
LAURA (PERKINS) STURDEVANT: Here is my life update: Wow, where to start... First and foremost, I never thought this day would come. I (we) have been getting older and time seems to have gotten away from me. I have two amazing daughters, Sarah is 24 has a family, two sons (yes I am a grandmother!) a career and is a wonderful woman. She and her husband are building a home in Colona, so I guess she isn't moving back home anytime soon. My youngest, Maggie, is soon to be 16 and loves driving, or maybe it's just the attention she gets when driving my little sports car! She is equally wonderful and keeps very busy with studies, church, preparing for her second mission trip, and saving money for a car by doing lots and lots of babysitting. After getting my Bachelor Degree in Business at Iowa Wesleyan, and working for Aldi for 4 years in their Burlington Division office, became a District Manager for the next 4 years managing stores in Iowa Missouri. After the 4 year stint as a District Manager, I went to Aldi's US Corporate Office in Batavia, IL and I've been here ever since. I am currently a Senior Director of Corporate Purchasing and truly believe I have the best job. They force me to travel to wonderful places and try foods, wine and beer to sell in our stores. I've been will Aldi 17 years and can't image a better place to be, (unless the beach). After being single for a few years I remarried in September and my life long friends, Marilyn (Perkins) Fisher and Vanessa Palos, were their to celebrate with me along with my entire family. Jeff, my husband has two boys 6 and 8 who are as easy going as their father. Although sometimes I wonder if they realize I live in the same house due to my interesting schedule. I'm looking forward to seeing the class of '81 and especially those I went to grade school with. With best wishes to all . . . Laura (Perkins) Sturdevant
MARK TAGHON graduated from Augustana College in 1985 with degrees in Business and Accounting. I went into banking, working for Citizens Federal in Davenport for 11 years. I met my wife, Dawn, at the bank and we were married in 1992. We have two daughters, Paige (12) and Korryn (9). First Midwest Bank bought Citizens Federal in 1996 and my position was eliminated. I went to the Rock Island Arsenal, working in DFAS (Defense Finance and Accounting). I was bored to tears and left after a year and a half to work for the President Casino’s Blackhawk Hotel as the controller. After 4 years (and a 3-month stint as GM), the Isle of Capri bought the President in 2001 and my position was eliminated again. I was unemployed for 5 months before taking a couple of temp jobs to make ends meet. I landed a permanent job with Fidlar Company in Rock Island in 2002 and worked there until 2003 when the traveling began to wear on my family. I left Fidlar to work for Junior Achievement as the accounting manager in July 2003. I have been there ever since and love it. My wife works for the City of East Moline doing a job share in the position of Confidential Secretary to the Mayor, a position she has held for 8 years after 9 years as a dispatcher. Life has been a roller coaster ride, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. My second daughter, Korryn, was born with Down Syndrome. She has had several health issues but is a true fighter and a real sweetheart. Of course, she has the best big sister in the world. We count our blessings every day. On a personal note, I try to stay active and became a runner my second year of college and have run 21 Bixes and 3 marathons. I coach my daughter’s softball and basketball teams and am having a ball doing so. I think Don Morris’ records are safe. See you all soon.
ANGELA (JONES) TENLEY: Hello Class of 1981! I have been living in the Madison Wisconsin area since 1986. I live with my family on the west side of Madison in Middleton, Wisconsin. I have a wonderful husband whose name is Tom Tenley and three great kids. Samantha is 8 years old and is just finishing second grade, Seth who is 6 years old and will be finishing kindergarten in a couple of weeks and Ethan is three years old and in preschool. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Western Illinois University. I am currently working at American Family Insurance as a Reporting Specialist and my husband Tom also works at American Family as a Project Manangement Specialist. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again in July!
THOMAS WEAVER Hello, my name is Tom. I'm unemployed. I live with my parents. I have no girlfriend or even prospects. (For whatever reason, Heidi Klumm & Molly Sims won't return my telephone calls or answer my letters. I know they know I exist, because I have their autographs sent to me on a restraining order.) On the bright side, I do like to wake up in the morning and read the daily news, so I have that going for me.
Since the 20 year Reunion, I've had my left knee replaced 4 times, but only totally removed once for 40 days. I have few income streams, but very profitable ones. I receive a small monthly sum for my disability retirement from the federal government. I receive occasional monies from substitute teaching. I have also won large amounts of money from a long game show appearance in a foreign country. I used a false name and have my winnings in an off shore bank account. I'm sometimes referred to as the "Ken Jennings" of the Southern Hemisphere. On top of that, I won the Irish Sweepstakes; that money is also in my off shore account. In my free time, I like snow board, para-sail, skeet shoot, volunteer at different schools, and attend fund raisers with Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Paul Allen, Vanna White, Jose Canseco, & a number of other notables.
Now, I admit some the above are embellishments, bent truths, half truths, and out & out lies. It's you job to figure what is real and what is from my imagination. Hope to see all of you over Reunion Weekend, if the President doesn't call me away for a top secret mission. I'd say more, but I've already said too much.
BRENDA (ELLIOTT) YORDY Hello Pioneer world - I can't believe I'm finally going to make it to a reunion! I've been living in Charlottesville, Virginia for the past 11 years with my husband (Chris) and two kids (Clare - 8, Eli - 5). I am the Executive Director of a foundation that recruits skilled craftspeople to participate in volunteer construction projects in Virginia, Mississippi, Haiti, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador (you can see our work at www.BuildingGoodness.org -- please feel free to volunteer or donate money!). We build schools, clinics, and community centers -- I love my job. When we are not ferrying kids around to social and sporting events, we are busy with our vineyard and winery. Look for pricey, red wines from MountFair Vineyards in about two more years. I get together with Manda Seaver and Margie Kale about once a year (you guys are still coming to the reunion right?) but am looking forward to catching up with the rest of you! Note to Sam: Bill Fischer is welcome to visit our house any time -- don't you think after 25 years you could spell his name right?
